    HI Everyone
I have a problem with a friends pc. His system died and decided to get a new one as the old one was 8 yrs old anyway he wants all of his outlook express settings and files putting onto his new system. This would be no problem of course but the only way i can get logged onto his old system is with ERD Commander, so there is no way of opening oe from it. Does anyone know how to get all these settings across in a way that the new system will understand. The old system was XP and the new is Vista.
Hope someone out there can help
    Thanks
    Johnno :)

Do you have ERD 2007? If so, you should be able to copy the data files to a USB drive, the older versions of ERD do not allow this but the newer ERD will I believe.

Did he ever export his email account(s) to a .iaf file? If so, that file could be imported into Windows Mail on the new system. I'm not familiar with ERD Commander but I'm under the impression you could use it to get files, such as an .iaf file, from the old hard drive.

Otherwise, I know of no way to get the email account settings unless the old hard drive could be installed in another computer as the master/boot drive and the system booted from it. Of course, unless such other computer would be an identical model, Windows is going to go crazy with new hardware/device driver issues upon being run on a different computer.

How many email accounts did he have set up in the old computer? It may be much easier just to visit the ISP, get the settings required by them, and create the accounts as new accounts.

Hey guys sorry it took so long to get back to you. Firstly the version of erd commander i have (2005) does support the transferring of files across to another hard drive so that was no problem. But i have since found this link http://novatone.net/mag/OEMSGCopy.htm, which gave me the info i needed. Many thanks to you guys for replying to my question, this was my first post on these forums, and it certainly wont be my last.
    John:)
