I have used tape backup with Microsoft OS's for years and have recently upgraded from XP SP2 to Vista Ultimate. The tape drive is a Sony 11000 SCSI device that worked fine in XP. Vista, as you know, does not support tape backup. I have an old Veritas program that I run in XP mode; however it cannot "see" the device. When I bootup, the motherboard recognizes the device without any problem. When I am in safe mode, the system "sees" the drive but I cannot write to it. I have searched Sony for drivers but to no avail.

I very much want to use tape backup (20GB capacity per tape) as an alternative backup for data. Any suggestions/hints/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance ...

Can you right-click on the VERITAS program & run under XP-compatibility?

Yes, I have already changed the setting in Properties. The program loads fine and I can proceed through the backup process but cannot execute because it does not find any devices.
