Tape recorder tape to cd

Several questions please

I would like to put notes I take on a tape recorder to CD. I was told it is failry simple yet I am not sure how.

I also am getting ready to purchase a new Dell Laptop, is there anything I should add to the make of the purchase which will make this process easier?

And, can someone explain the process? I am wondering if I need to purchase a specific tape recorder? Presently I have a Olympus Pearlcorder S701.
