Task bar too big

No big deal, I guess--but it bugs me. I did something that caused my taskbar--or whatever that bar at the bottom of the screen is called that has the Start button on the far left and the clock on the far right--to get too "tall." It's now two or three bars deep (up-down) instead of one. There are three short rows of icons next to the clock instead of them being stretched out in a longer single row. At the left, the icon for the page that's open is below the strip of icons that are next to the Start button. When I position the double-pointed arrow on the taskbar and move the arrow down slowly, it makes the whole taskbar disappear. Any ideas? Thanks.

right click on the taskbar, uncheck "lock the taskbar"(if it's checked), pause the cursor on the top edge of it, and drag down.

There was no check on Lock the Taskbar. But when I pulled the arrow down, the bar disappeared.

The bar completely disapeared? Then you pulled it down too far. Move your mouse pointerr to the bootom of the screen; until it changes from white to a thin black pointer. Left-click and hold now drag your task bar back onto the screen. Right-click on the task bar, select Lock the Taskbar.

Appreciate your efforts. The problem is that after I have gone too far and the taskbar disappears, I slowly drag the arrow back upwards and the first thing that happens is that the taskbar reappears in the same too-tall configuration. No matter how slowly I drag the arrow upwards, I can't get to the normal appearance. Is there a "go back to the way it used to be" button somewhere?

    HI frybo :)
You will have to do it very slowly as it is a drag stop type of movement that is required but with Practice you will get the hang of it

No matter how slow you go it won't work...unless you first Right click the toolbar and make sure that under the tool bar option "Show the Desktop" is NOT selected. You should now be back in business.

    dao for now.
