Task manager problem

    i seem to be having a problem with my task mananger. i cant get it to appear. ctrl alt del does nothing nor does right clicking next to the start button and pressing task manager. i dont no if i accidently deleted a short cut or somethig. (windows xp)

    Have you scanned for Virii? one virus I can remember affects the task manager ( w32.spybot.worm iirc )

    also can you go back a restore point before you may have deleted/cleaned something?

    yea ive scanned for virus and everything and its completely clean. and that screensaver thing didnt work....

    if you goto Start > Run and type taskmgr and hit enter does that bring up the taskmanager?

    also what XP Service Pack are you running? plus do you have the CD?
    as its possible we may need to repair the OS.

    i tried start > run > taskmgr and i got this: "Another program is using this file" I'm using service pack 2 and im not sure if i no where my windows CD is ill have to dig it up from under a pile somewhere.

    Boot to Safe Mode, using Widows Explorer find and delete the folder below:

    C:\Program Files\winupdates

    NOTE: You might be able to Uninstall it in Add / Remove Programs.

    Restart and try Task Manager again.
