Stab in the dark, but you probably need to unlock it first for the changes to take effect.

Assuming that your OS is XP....

    1. Goto Start menu.

    2. Select Control Panel.

    3. Click Appearance and Themes.

    4. At the bottom there will be a choice called Taskbar and Start Menu click on that.

    5. Under Taskbar there will be an option titled Auto-hide the Taskbar.

    a. To disable the Auto-hide uncheck the corrisponding box.
    b. To enable the feature check the box.

    6. Click OK and your done.

    I use windows 7?
I just right click on the task bar and I get those options, and that's what I'm saying, i have done those options and I were to restart, it will revert back to auto-hide,

I'll let you know when it happens again....just frustrating,...but worse news, after 10 years of hard work, my Series 2 tivo gonked out me.
    I CAN"T WATCH LIVE TV!

I see no such setting in Windows 7. Can you state EXACTLY where/how that is found?

    it changes when it hibernates
I had to uncheck the "auto-hide taskbar"
then a bit later,i closed my laptop and it went to sleep/hibernate
later I opened it, I had to uncheck the "auto-hide taskbar" again

    so whats going on?

Try (re)setting it and log out or reboot.

Allow it to re-enter hibernate, wake it and ... ?

    Im not following?
so I let it hibernate and then wake it up and see if the taskbar settings have changed?
that just happened.. I reported the results above

I had unchecked the "auto-hide" check mark and the computer went into hibernate, I woke it up and it was checked again, (even though the check by lock the taskbar is checked

You said you use CCleaner. Are you using it after you have unchecked Auto-hide taskbar?

The reason why I ask is because CCleaner will clear out recent system changes and Windows Explorer changes. I use Vista and I have to manually apply the hibernate feature everytime I use CCleaner or disk cleanup.

.45 bounce off,,wtf is this thing made out of?

    good thinking
    checked taskbar properties
    did ccleaner
re-checked and the task bar properties were unchanged

Ok. Now this may seem like a complete shot in the dark (but just b/c this is a weird issue) are you using an Administrator account when performing this?

I only use W7 when I'm at work. Other then that its Vista and XP at home. :)

If the UAC pops up, you are not logged in as admin, even if ye were to turn off UAC.

    nothing pops up?
I'm not sure what would pop up, the check mark just comes back for no apparent reason and my task bard disappears

    My OS is windows 7
it keeps happening, whenever it goes to screensaver mode

    Im doing this
I go to my taskbar-->right click-->click properties->Taskbar and Start Menu properties pops up-->UNCLICK ALL BOXES-->click LOCK TASKBAR last-->hit ok

and then later on, my taskbar is back to autohide

what can I do to fix this?

  19. watchntv

    watchntv Private E-2

no, and itworks fine for a while, then I'm not sure what changes make the auto-bar start to dissappear again, checking the box, I unchecked, but when I go into the options and unclck the Auto-hide the taskbar box, it doesnt show it again
so while no "apply options" button. it works, then it stops working

I know how to turn off the auto-hide and i do it and it works, the problem is it gets turned back on without me doing it

I use Cccleaner so I suspect my cashe is cleaned out

x86 = 32 bit (typically 4 gigs of ram or less)
x64 = 64 bit (typically 4 gigs of ram or more)

Or click the windows key + Pause break key, then you will find your info
