(I just posted this on th esoftware forum but maybe this is more appropriate)

I recently installed a secondhand Japanese wireless router, Aterm WARPSTAR, on my desktop. I'm having trouble connecting on my laptop. When I open Windows on my desktop I get a message telling me I don't have TCP/IP Protocols on my computer. Would that be stopping me from accessing the internet on my laptop? What can I do to remedy this?

Oh yeah. thatll prevent you from connecting to any network, let alone the internet. check your device manager to see if you have any errors on your nic.

right click my computer - properties - hardware tab - device manager
expand network adapters and check if you even have anything there, and if you do there shouldnt be any yellow !s or ?s

O, done that. The only thing listed is "Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC". Could that mean the wireless router hasn't installed properly? I'm having no trouble connecting to the internet on my PC.
