New here. Popped in to say hi and try and get answers. I used Techdum as a user name, well first cause Clueless was already taken,. Second cause I am just that. Tech Dumb.
I am a grandma of 11 kids plus many of their friends. I'm looking to get some Christmas shopping done. The kids are far better with computers than I [Techdum].
With 10 of them, getting them each something special can be a bit expensive so I don't want to mess up.
I was looking to get them each a laptop if I could find a good enough deal. While searching for deals on Laptops I came accrossed this thing called Android Tablet.
Is Android Tablet anything like a laptop? Does it connect to the internet, Facebook, and where's the keyboard?

Ok quit the laughing..LOL. Told ya I was Techdum.:-o

Great first post.

Android tablets are the same idea as an iPad. They are a flat touchscreen tablet. They do connect to the internet through wireless and they run 'apps', including the Facebook app. The app store contains thousands of apps for use, some free, some you have to pay for. The keyboard is a touchscreen one that will appear when you access something that needs it.

They are not computers or laptops and do not have the full functionality of them. Depending on what your grandchildren would use them for, they'd be a great gift...if they don't already have iPads.
