Ok, I'm Blond, Polish and 73. I need help deciphering the difference between all these new gadgets. I'm looking to get a new computer (not a desktop but something that is more portable) but I'm getting dizzy - what is the difference between a laptop, notebook, netbook, Ipad and Ipod?

laptop and notebook are essentially the same thing.

A netbook is a smaller laptop, usually with a smaller screen, smaller keyboard area (keys are crammed a little more), and usually have a slower processor, and less ram, which could lead to slower performance. on the plus side, they are very portable, and have a much longer battery life.

An ipod is at heart, a music player, about the size of a phone (an iphone is an ipod that can make phone calls). There are some apps but this is not necessarily anything like a laptop. Oh and there's no keyboard, its just a touchscreen.

An ipad is basically an oversized ipod. a larger screen and some helpful apps that take advantage of the larger size, but it's still not your traditional laptop. again, there's no keyboard, except for a touchscreen.

if you're asking for opinions, I would just look for a standard laptop/notebook. Or if you happen to like the smaller, portable netbook.

I could probably go further, but I think you get the idea.
