    Hi,

Having problems getting my live stream to my server so it can be watched from anywhere on my website.

The TECHview IP network camera has FTP settings window with the usual inputs of server address, user, pass, port but it never works for me and can't find any documentation online to help or even any reference from anyone trying to do it. No tutorials or anything. My next step is to try and contact the TECHview themselves but I am pretty sure they are in China.

The model I am using is icam86656

Hope maybe someone here has tried FTP Service Settings and can help me out.

You can't FTP a live stream. You can use VLC or another webservice if the camera streams. VLC use this rtsp://IPADDRESS:554/

With FTP you can upload snapshots - a single picture, then have the website refresh every so often to show the new picture.
Did you setup a FTP server to send the pictures to?

Can you post a link to the camera's manufacturer?

    Thanks for replying and explaining.

I don't want still images so I don't need to worry about the FTP in that case but I wonder if the settings fail each time because have not set up port forwarding and static ip correctly?

Sorry just realized gave incorrect model before but above link is correct.

I have read some people use adobe live encoder to publish their stream to their website but I've installed FFmpeg because my flash player only plays RTMP stream and needs to be converted first.

How can I force my IP camera to show RTSP address and not HTTP cgi address please?

I am happy to report I got it going all by myself! Would you believe I am a 53 married woman with three sons aged 23-19 and not one of those men could help me source an ip camera let alone connect it up, acquire the software for mac , set it up with wifi and then port forward set static ip and find correct code to embed in webpage! :DDDDD BUT i did ! YAY

and I came back here in case any other woman or person like myself is left in a sea of tech trouble with not a paddle in sight...the embed code I used for getting to work was simply <img src="the ip static web address and user password(make sure not admin one!)"/> and that's it VOILA

Don't ever be discouraged because with enough reading and thinking and playing around with it you will eventually succeed.

yeah, when in trouble, RT*M (read the %&*# manual)... I looked it up and didn't have a chance to come back and ask if you did. There are good instructions there. Good thing you got it all by yourself, no one pointed out that FTP was not the thing you wanted or anything...

that's the thing , there is NO manual. They only have a cd for windows and no cd or documentation for mac. That's why it was a bit confusing but actually it is the thing of getting it online that they need a manual for!!
