We've all been chatting for a long while now and I think it would be cool to know something interesting about everyone here; or about someone in your family.

    ex:
My dad sparred the nephew of Mas Oyama and hit him in the nutsack with a shinai. Dropped him to his knees.

My Grandfather on my dad's side fought in the black forest of Germany.

I beat all but one of the students in my fathers old dojo where he learned and taught Shoryn-Ryu.

I developed a new technique in college for sliding brain tissue from mice off a microtome that was frozen with CO2 and sucrose.

I pioneered the Think First For Kids (Brain and Spinal Cord injury prevention) program for northern NY while in college.

    Now you.. :)

Ok well with only 17 years of being alive I've not got that much to say! But!

I've been invited to work for Renault F1 in the future, after doing work experience with them a couple of years ago.

My dad does rigging for nearly all the west end shows, my step dad does sound for most of the west end shows and did a concert for the queen at windsor of Les Miserables (by royal appointment!).

I'm the first woman elected to office in my 110-year-old union local.

My grandmother on my father's side was in the first graduating class at Central Michigan College (now University) that contained women.

My father served his entire Navy career on the USS Intrepid, the aircraft carrier which is now a floating museum in the New York harbour.

When I was in first and sixth grades, I won the young authors contest for the region, and placed in the state, with stories I wrote and illustrated myself.

That's all I can think of at the moment.

Nothing too special about this 33yo Turk, really. Been in the States for about 15 years, absofreakinglutely love it here. Understand German and read/write but cannot speak it anymore...
I always loved technology, gadgets and computers and decided to get in the field and got a career going since 1999 after a 1-year schooling at local IT Tech school. Certified with MCSE+Proxy, CNA, A+, Network+, Hubbell but always valued and prefered hands-on, real-life experience over any certification. I have been pretty good with figuring almost al problems that had to do with HW, Windows, Networking using common sense and unorthodox troubleshooting techniques when the known ways didn't suffice.
Would love to time-travel back in the future (but probably get killed in a day or so  ) .
I used to post messages/replies in a Tech Forum on a site that also had a show once a week in Turkey, they acknowledged my contributions to the tech forum, program producer thanked me and announced my name on TV.
Most of the family is abroad, engineers or self-employed, those back in Turkey are either Engineer, doctor or high ranking officers in the military.
Most people think I resemble/look like Joe Fatone from NSync (eew if you ask me). ;)
    ...had enough?

    G.T. R.I.P February 4, 2007. You will be missed.

I'm so uninteresting I put myself to sleep. :D

Although I've had some interesting entertainment over the years. Rode a motorcycle for about 15 years. Build & tinker with puters, which isn't anything unique here. At my last job, I got to work around, nose around and fly in some very interesting aircraft. Lots of common general aviation stuff, plus quite a few antiques and warbirds. We serviced quite a few from a flying museum on the field. Have been able to fondle P-40 Warhawk, P-51 Mustang, Navy SNJ trainer, Grumman Goose seaplanes, TBM torpedo bomber, B-25 Mitchell, A-26, F-86 Saber Jet, privately built/restored Cobra attack helicopter, Hawker Sea Fury. I got a wild ride in the Sea Fury, in a small jump seat tucked behind the pilot. Got to push around a lot of the small aerobatic planes during air shows.

My Dad was Navy in WWII, in the Pacific, from Guadalcanal to China. One uncle was in Battle of the Bulge, One uncle died in a B-17 over the English Channel. I guess I inherited my love of aircraft from him.

(NO he won't tell me anyting.. just the truth will come out soon) oh my parents made detonators for bombs in our basement during the viet nam war.. i'm a wannbe geek... barely a nerd.

Shaved 3 semisters off my High School, and started college day before my 17th birthday. 23 years later, not much accomplished. Had a great gal to fall in love with, have a beautiful daughter. I wanted to be a geek, but started too late, and after the dotcom meltdown, was glad I did not take the path to IT.

Best job I had, marketing to the IT camp in the Fortune 1000. Nice job that was really fun and yet at 455 you knew it all went black with the screen. Only 2 bad days there in 21/2 yrs. Amazing what the lowly worker at the back desk will tell when bored. Amazing when a company finds the solution and yet will not commit to repair even with ROI of as few as 6 months.

I am geographically further west on the Continental US than any other geek I know of in the boards.

Ok GT you can wake up now.

mmm pretty uneventful 16 years so far, dicovered not long ago that both my grand dads fought in WW2, with my dad's dad fighting all the way over in Burma - is that near India or somewhere??? Whilst my mum's dad was hit by shrapnel early on in the war and had to pull out. This later led to many problems and he sadly passed away about 3 years ago now.
My mum was involved very much so in music when she wsa at school, so was my dad, and thus I am brought up to play the piano to grade 7 standard last december and just last friday got my grade 8 result for clarinet - 135/150, aka distinction, aka very good!!!
the examiner commented that I should take it up professionally, so I might have a career there! Is that enough or do you want more Kodo????

on my mothers side, we had out geneology traced. My family was fathered in america by the captain of the mayflower, Miles standish. Out geneology was traced all the way back to Martin Luther, the founder of the protestant church.

    gee, theres a shocker...

in middle school, i was running through the grocery store and got hit by a cart coming out of one of the isles. i fell to the ground and broke my two front teeth, so now i have caps on my front teeth. so does my dad.

in city baseball in 9th grade, i was the number 1 overall pick in the draft (all the players tryout for the coaches, then all the coaches pick who they want on their team).

My mom's great grandfather invented the rifle safety for the browning rifles. not sure if its what they use today though.

something interesting about my wife...in her whole schooling career (6th grade through her MBA at Ok. State) she has gotten all A's and only 2 B's.

Man, am I boring. After reading all of the previous posts...and I still can't really think of anything interesting about myself. Well, I'll try...

    I met Mr. T once.

I jumped over a car once.

I broke my scapula (shoulder blade) once while skateboarding and didn't find out it was actually broken untill three years later.

I was a baaaaaaad kid in my high school years. (not drugs, but lot's of vandalism and other such shenanigans)

I am 29 and to this day have never once touched any drug, pot or otherwise, never drank, never smoked. I am true straight edge, and will be till the day I die. I have the words "straight edge" tattoo across the upper part of my back, from shoulder to shoulder.

I'm Dutch. Not that that's interesting, but others have been posting their nationalities.

Oh yeah. Back about 12 years ago at a small club in Phila on South St. called J.C Dobbs, I lost my wallet in the pit while Green Day was playing on stage. In between songs, I was pushing people around to get a good view of the floor in hopes to find it. The singer from Green Day hopped of the stage and asked what I was doing. (This place was real small, like just a bar, and Green Day wasn't real big back then). I told him I lost my wallet. He got back on the stage and announcedon the mic "Hey this guy lost his wallet. If anybody finds a wallet, bring it up here OK?" Sure enough, someone found my wallet and handed to Billie Joe, the singer, who handed it down to me.

Lame story I guess, but that's about the extent of my meetings with celeberities. Oh yeah, I met King Kong Bundy at the Phila airport two years ago. They lost my and his luggage. We both rode the shuttle together to the parking lot. He was really cool. He lives in Jersey.

About ten years ago, one of the many punk bands I was in was actually "scouted" by John Porcell from Youth of Today/Shelter and he asked us to come to the Krisna Temple to record an album. We did three songs, I ended up doing guitar and bass since our bass player was real flakey and didn't show up. Well, it was never released but I still have the masters. It was just cool and very flattering. Most of you probably don't know who Porcell is or have heard of Youth of Today or Shelter, but they are like iconic hardcore/straight edge bands from back in the day.

Let's see... on my mother's side of family, they go all the way back to early colonial Americans as South Carolina's plantation owners - Middleton, Rutledge -- these two also signed the Constitution (if memory serves me right) and the Declaration of Independence. Kodo, didn't know you were into martial arts.

I studied Jun Fan, or Jeet Kune Do for a while. My sifu was taught by, and still learns from Dan Inosanto, Bruce Lee's top student.

After that, I trained in Praying Mantis for a short while, and was able to train with Grandmaster Pan Quing Fu. I learned some Druken Style forms from him.

It's been a while, but I'd like to go back and train some more. Maybe someday. Having a kid and all..... sure changes a lot. You basically lose all of your free time. But I wouldn't trade it for the world.

Moved from England to Canada when I was 11. Got hit by a car in Victoria when I was 13. I was propelled by it headfirst into a parked car. Caved the quarter panel in with my head. Walked away. (Cross at the crosswalk.) First got drunk when I was 14. I raided parents liquor cabinet. They were mad that I watered down their booze. Never drank since. (That's a blatant lie!) Worked since I was 15. Married, three kids (one of each). I LIKE TO RIDE MY BIKE. Hmmm nothing really interesting though. Oh, I was a habitual streaker when I was a teen, and still am on occasion.

    >Almost had a mid-air collision, when my college friend and I were taking our graduation celebration trip together to the Grand Canyon. We were in flight for about an hour. While we were looking out the window, something very large and with lightning speed went flying by. We both just looked at each other for a moment, and then broke out in nervous laughter. I said,"Did you see that?"What was that?" All she could do was laugh and shake her head. I then told her to pull down the window shade, and we were freaking out the rest of the way.

on my mother's side i am directly related to thomas jefferson and robert e lee(nice combo huh?).
i am a member of the daughters of the american revolution(as a jefferson relative) and the sisters of the confederacy-or whatever they are calling themselves(as a lee relative)-my grandma pays my dues-or at least i think she does-i keep getting stuff in the mail from them and i have not ever in my life contacted them. (my grandma was raised in the south on a plantation passed down from generation to generation-the slave quarters still stand). my grandma refuses to this day to believe that jefferson had children with his black "housekeeper". perhaps you can tell, this is not the side of my family that i am particularly proud of, however roots are roots and all i can do is to learn from their mistakes. actually jefferson was okay.

on my father's side i am nez perce. my relatives fled down the lolo trail attempting to flee to canada. they got to within 50 miles(i think) of the boarder before they were stopped. that was where chief joseph said "from where the sun now stands i will fight no more forever".

my father has been researching his genealogy and is in the process of writing a book about his life.

my father knew bruce lee (one of my dad's college house brothers was lee's best friend and introduced them). my dad says lee was very quiet and unassuming-just a regular guy. but when he would spar with his best friend it was indescribable how fast he was.

my father was the artist chosen to participate in the pilot program of the artist in the school project.

my maternal grandfather worked on one of the apollo projects

i was one of the first fertility drug babies when it was in the human testing faze.

when i was 6(i think) my artwork was chosen to be displayed on the public transit buses in the city i lived in at the time.

when i was 10 my parents bought me a horse of my own and when i was about 13 i began training for the olympic equestrian team.

then at 16 i found drugs(heroin and cocaine), booze(jack daniels)and boys(too many to list) and headed out on a tangent for awhile (a lolooooonghile) which included drug dealing, drug smuggling and other miscellaneous bad deeds.

then i got back on track.

am now 37 with a home of my own on acreage, single, no kids, 3 cats, 1 racoon, 1 crow and retired.
