    Hi anybody............,

recently I have and still am having a problem with a temp file that will not go away.
It's C:\windows/temp/CS.... followed by a lot of numbers

I have tried to delete it but they are all locked.
I've tried EE, Norton, etc and they are unable to see it off.
It even screws up my settings reporting an erronous size and I'm fedup with it.
Does anyone know what it is or what is causing it.
I'd be very grateful for any help in getting rid of this.
    I'm running XP Pro.

Try booting into Safe Mode and deleting it.

    Hi Da Chicken,

    just picked this up.
    Safe mode didn't help.
I deleted it in safe mode and when I restarted in normal it was still there.

Don't know what caused them but they are a pain in the A..
Several times I have to reboot by hitting restart button and always the size of them is invalid.
    They all beginas follows:-
C;\windows\temp C....or CS.... and there are 101 in my system, a total of 5.9 Mb. They don't seem to affect any operating modes but I just can't get shot of them.
The trouble is I don't know what they are!
If you've any other ideas I'd be very grateful

    Many thanks again

    billo

I have recently seen this exact problem, also. Right down to the 101 files. They can be deleted in safe mode, but they always come back at every reboot. In fact, they are replaced with a new set of files at each reboot. The date/time is always the boot time. The files are locked by another process or person and can not be deleted.

Since I am able to delete them, but they come back, it is more important to determine what is creating them.

Ad-Aware SE, Webroot Spysweeper and Norton AV 2005 all report the system to be clean. I can't identify any unusual processes in Task Manager.

Has anyone else seen this this problem and or found its cause?

I have a sneaky suspicion that I have been invaded too.
