I checked out the monitoring page on this site and I see there are a lot of system monitoring softwares available. Instead of testing each one out I figured I would come here and ask of your opinion. I am running an intel i3 530 and an ati radeon hd 5750 and I would like to have some good software that will monitor the temp and usage of these two components. Thanks very much for your time, I'll definitely test out your suggestions.

I'm not real sure what mean by "usage", but for temp monitoring, I use HWmonitor. It records temps for CPU, GPU, and numerous other things, plus it records voltages too. The voltage readings aren't terribly accurate, but that will vary depending on your motherboard. But the temp readings are spot on. If you motherboard and video card are somewhat modern (less than 3-4 years old), it should do fine. For just monitoring GPU temps, check out GPU-Z, and for strictly CPU temps, look at CoreTemp. For "usage" monitoring, try CS Fire Monitor. It can monitor CPU usage, network bandwidth usage, memory usage, hard drive usage. and more. It hasn't been updated in a while, but it should work OK with Vista and/or Win7 (maybe check the developer's page?).
    :-D

(yes, all the programs I linked to are 100% free, no adware, no toolbars ;) )

Be advised: the HWMonitor 1.1.6 that I installed 5 min. ago has the Ask Toolbar installer.

    :eek
The last time I installed the free HWmonitor, it did NOT have a toolbar installer, so that's my oversight.... While the Ask toolbar is one of the more innocuous toolbars out there, it is still a toolbar, but I understand why it's there: these coders need money!! The folks at Ask say "we'll pay you five hundred bazzillion dollars to add our installer, plus another fourteen quadrazillion for every person that actually installs the toolbar from your software", so the developers do it. I won't sweat 'em for it... they need money too. Freeware is great, but it doesn't pay real well. As long as a toolbar (or whatever) isn't hidden, and is easy to opt out of, I personally have no problem with it. Every time I have run into freeware with the Ask TB "bundled", it has been VERY obvious that it's there, and VERY easy to not install, and if you're going to "accidentally" or unknowingly (if you don't read what's right in front of you) install a toolbar, be glad it's the Ask TB: it's easy to remove, it doesn't do anything evil, it doesn't chew up resources or slow down your web surfing, it only takes up a little browser real estate, and some of you may actually find it helpful!!! GASP!!!

    LOL

Agreed: just a head's-up for the OP...

I installed HWMonitor not long ago, and the toolbar is so obvious you can't miss it even if you try. Just un-check all three boxes on that page and hit "next" and it will never install. :)
