temperature error message

    custom built pc
    pentium 4 3.0Ghz
    intel motherboard

    "System Alert" Your system has exceeded its recommended maximu temperature

    have not gone and looked at customers pc yet...anyone ever get this message before? customer says the fans are running. what could be give that message and be overheating the cpu? could it be a bad sensor somewhere? any information would be helpful thanks

    Have a look in the BIOS & see what temperature it is set to kick in with a warning or the shutdown temperature.
