temporary freeze up

About every 3 or 4 minutes my pc temporary freezes for about 5 seconds and then goes back to normal. I tried using some registry cleaners but it didn't help. It's a fairly new hard drive that I had installed(about 3 months ago) and it been doing fine until this week when it started freezing up

the mouse won't move, key board doesn't work, if i'm in a game it freezes the game. the whole pc just freezes for about 5 or 6 seconds then continues on like nothing happened.

 

Yea, i've already tried that as well. nothing changed. it's a new hard drive( 3 months old) and it's 160gig and it's ran fine until this week. i have a.v.g. antivirus and super spyware that i downloaded from major geek web page and it's been doing great. neither one has picked up on anything suspicious.
