I manage a couple of Windows Server 2003 based Terminal Servers and both now have the same problem, printers multiplying like rabbits.

I can see whats happening but cannot work out how to stop it.

One site has mostly networked printers connected directly to the network and a couple of shared printers connected directly to a c ouple of PC's.

The list of printers has become full of entries like HP5500 on session2, hp5500, hp5500 on session 7, hp5500 on session 3 etc etc.

In the absence of terminal services I would say that rather than adding a network printer as a local printer via an IP address and then leaving it at that, they had gone on to share the printer thinking it would allow others to access it.

Is there a setting in TS where it would override the correct installation of a printer to share it automatically from within a Terminal Services session thereby generating all the duplicate printers?
