Text File Ticker Wanted!

Hello to you all!
I am a new member, so I really don't know as much as you all know so please explain things in lame-man's terms.

I am looking for a program that will show a text file. I want it to show the first two lines, then after like 7 seconds, then show the next two lines, and so on, then repeat at the end of the file. And most importantly I want this ticker on my desktop. I want the background color to be black, and the text color to be white, Arial, and font size to be 14. I couldn't find any on the internet, so if any of you know how to make this simple "program", please do. It is very important to me.

P.S. I've tried Text Ticker! It was similar to what I want, but not it!

Okay. There a couple things the members would need to know first.

1) What did you not like about "Text Ticker"?
2) What programming language (e.g. C++, Visual Basic, etc.) did you want it to be in?

 

Hmmm actually Im not sure if Question 2 is relevant to skywatcher here - it looks like he/she is only interested in a final program to meet their needs, and not concerned about the coding aspect.

I am a little confused by:

Do you : Want it as an application that will run on the desktop like pretty much any Windows application does?
Do you : Want the text file to be 'ticked' out onto the desktop essentially forming the background image???
Do you : Want something else that I am completely missing?

 

Answer to Question 1- I liked Text Ticker, except it only scrolls the Text horizontally, I wanted it to like scrolled one line of text up, then stop and wait about 7 seconds and scroll on out.

Answer to Question 2- It doesn't matter one bit. Your choice!

I want it to run on the desktop just like Text Ticker, in a "appbar" and let it run at the top or bottom of the screen (the bottom meaning sitting on the start menu), and it want it to be "Always on top"

 

Can ANYONE please help???

I'm sure someone could help you but you MUST be exponentially more patient. I am currently working on a project. If someone else wants to build this, they can.. if not, then when I am done with my current project I can build this.

LOL You are impatient, aren't you?

Sometimes things take awhile, sometimes they don't. You could also try other forums. If you or someone else finds a solution before somebody here does, post the solution here for people who want to do the same thing.

Well, take into account the fact that I have a full time job, family, a current project and it will be free, I'd say it'll be done when it's done..

 

I'd be seriously tempted to have a go at this myself if nothing more for an excuse to do some C++ for the Windows APIs which I've never done before. But I'm in the same boat as Kodo - full time job, family, and somehow more things to do in a day than there is time to do it in...

I've got like an "alpha version" of what I was asking for, from another forum. It was programmed using Visual Basic 6. If I post the project, can someone make some very minor changes??

Like currently, the ticker shows line 1 and 2 first, then 2 and 3, then 3 and 4, and so on, and when It gets to the end of the file it repeats.

What I need it to do is show line 1 and 2, then 3 and 4, then 5 and 6, and so on, but still repeat at the end of the file.


Currently, the ticker shows the text for 1 second on each "bar", each time it gets to that line of text.

What I need it to do is show for example lines 1 and 2 for 5 seconds, then lines 3 and 4 for 5 seconds, and so on.



If anyone thinks they can make these two very minor changes, please post back here, saying you will.

don't post the exe, but post the source in a zip file and I'll take a peek at it. Gonna have to dig out my VB6 again..(thought I'd never have to look at it again..lol)

 

When you say source, do you mean the actual project?

I've got the .exe and a .vbp file for it, and a .frm file for it.
