Text keeps resizing

Ok this is a new one to me. I've got a user's laptop automatically zooming their text to the largest size. Let me explain:

I open their email (Microsoft Outlook) and immediately their signature begins to zoom into 500%. So I change it back to 100% from the drop down, and what do you know, it zooms back to 500 right before my eyes. The same thing happens in Word as well.

What I thought to be an Office related problem went out the "window" when the same thing happened while opening a web page. Click view, text size and it's set to "largest". I change it to normal and viola, back to largest again.

I've checked on the Display properties of the machine and font size is set to normal there as well.

I am at the end of my rope.

Any help would be appreciated.

It sounds to me that you may have a key stuck on the keyboard.

 

that's what I thought too. But what key functions are used to zoom text?

 

Hold CTRL down and press either - or + to zoom in and out.

CTRL and your mouse wheel will have the same effect.

 

Yep. blew out the CTRL keys and now it seems to have stopped.
