    Hi People,

I was just curious, what software is out there for text to speech? I know XP has it's own, but is there others? better, clear and more understanding software out there?

I am wanting to develop my own sound scheme, and want to generate sentences of male and female voices, the speech tools in XP are very resource hungry (becuase of all the other software that runs with it that isnt required just to record speeches...I also do not like the XP speech, it sounds very 'demented' in a sense, no life in the actual speech...

I remember the old AMIGA text to speech software, it fit on a single floppy disk, and it was just as clear as the current MS sam text to speech... strange aye?

The new Opera 7.60 Beta has a speech option, you can give commands via speech or have it read out webpages.

Obviously thats just for websites though

Prolly cause speech sythysisation technology hasn't got an awful lot better since then! :D (if it was an amiga, chances are it was a single density (700kb) disk too! :D Oh yes, Amigas rock )

If youre looking to output some speach to a WAV file then you can get programs that will do that for you. Just search for them on google.. worth a shot.
