Hi fellow geeks,

I ran across this forum searching for info on what I believe to be a Win32/Patched.FS and/or Win32/Patched.FD infection on a friend's computer. I've been looking around for a couple hours and there appears to be a wealth of knowledge here, along with many selfless volunteers.

I read through the RUN & READ ME FIRST Malware Removal Guide thread and downloaded all the appropriate tools. In a couple hours I'll head over to my friend's house to start on this problem. I consider myself on the advanced side of average and used to make a living in the software industry, but since I run a pretty tight ship on my own computer I have almost zero experience removing malware (but that's a good thing, right?).

The Malware Removal Guide thread appears to be very comprehensive so I'll start there and see how far I can get. With any luck that'll take care of me but if not then I may be back with questions.

In any case, I wanted to thank you all for the knowledge I've already gained from this site. I appreciate your efforts for me and for all the others you're helping.

Hello and welcome. Glad you got some things figured out. Just my opinion tho when using those programs to scan the infected computer you should post the logs on here in the malware section. Since you are safe user on your computer and not all full of knowing malware. Then they can see things that we may not see on the computer.
