Thanksgiving....

While tomorrow's Thanksgiving Day is strictly a U.S. holiday, there's nothing forbidding anybody from being thankful.

So what are you all thankful for?

I'm thankful for my daughter, my wife, and the fact that I am alive

November 21st marked the anniversary of my car wreck.

 

I am thankful that I have a great job, a nice place to live and my wife and kids are healthy. For while I was unemployed and living with family/friends.
This is our 1st Thanksgiving at our OWN house.

 

I'm thankful for my beautiful family and friends, and overall my loved ones... I couldn't go on without them...
I thank you guys for being a part of my life (it may seem like a small part but friends never are a small part of someone's life).
I'm thankful for being alive...for living in a wonderful country that has stumbled so many times but at the end of the day, I have food, I have a place to sleep, someone to kiss goodnight, freedom.

I am thankful for the courageous troops out there fighting for our lives. A lot of dinner tables will have an empty seat this Thanksgiving. Please keep them in your thoughts and, if applicable, your prayers.

I am thankful for Half Life 2 and the several days I have off to re-play it.

Thankful that my ancestors landed on Plymouth Rock! Otherwise we wouldn't be in the greatest country now would we.

Have a delicious Thanksgiving.

 

I visited with my neighbor yesterday. I noticed a bouquet of thorny rose stems with no rose heads on them, but instead, there were little red ribbons tied to each stem with a piece of paper that had a few words written on it. I asked her about it, and she told me it was her Thanksgiving bouquet. She said that each of the pieces of paper were things that had challenged her in her life and subsequently drawn her closer to God and made her stronger. Although they weren't pleasant events, she was thankful for how she grew as a person through them. She had things written such as; a battle with cancer, weight struggles, etc.

It made me think about what were my challenges in life that I'm "thankful" for... I suppose my family life growing up. Although it was difficult, it helped shape me into who I am. Also, dealing with depression is a constant struggle that challenges me, and keeps me turning to God and to loved ones for support.

I just thought it was a different way of looking at Thanksgiving. I mean, the pilgrims were celebrating thankfulness, but they sure didn't have it easy. They were celebrating survival and endurance when they had probably lost numerous family members and friends, and still had a very uncertain future to look forward to. Talk about being thankful in all situations...

 

I am thankful to God for Everything that He has given me...

 

I am grateful to be alive, rather than dead; to have close friends of great worth; and the privilege of experiencing life, with all its fascination, learning, growth, triumphs and tragedies.

I am grateful of the thousands of small blessings (and sometimes curses) that fill each and every day of our lives. Like grains of sand on the beach, by themselves they are insignificant, but each is as important as the other in the structure of our lives and the Universe.

I am quite sure I could not have said it better. I am thankful for all the bad things in my life as they have, in a way, prepared me for what I am dealing with today. It's easy to look back & think "At least I'm not there". There has been many times in my life that would be much worse than what's happening at that moment.

So I reckon I'm thankful for all that has brought me to where I am today. Good & bad.

 

I'm thankful that I'm able to be thankful for something. It may sound like gibberish, but think about it for a second.

Phew, I'm thankful I made it back in time to wish all you Yanks Happy Thanksgiving.

I'm thankful for my son's smile, which lights up my soul when I feel burdened. For my wife's love, amazingly powerful , which fills my heart with joy.
I'm thankful to have friends with integrity, honor and loyalty, in the darkest as well as the best times.
I'm thankful for each and every day, to be treasured and shared.

I'm thankful for all I have, and for the ability to serve others at difficult times in their lives.

I am thankful to be alive.

 

I'm thankful for the life I have. Which entails so much...
My parents who taught me to love, to be patient, to be firm when needed, to enjoy helping others, to appreciate the One who created us... all by example, not by preaching.
My extended family, who, for the most part, reinforced those ideals that my folks held.
Good friends, both IRL and online, who help pass the time, and share the good and bad that comes up.
A job I enjoy that pays enough for my needs.
All my "things". Not fancy, but anything I need I have, plus some.

Most all of us today are rich by world standards. Being thankful is more a matter of appreciating whatever you have, not having whatever you appreciate.

I hope everybody had a great Thandkgiving.

Pretty funny movie Lame how they wait an entire year to release it on DVD just to cash in on the holiday boom...
