The best anti virus systems

Hey guys, hows it hanging? I'm not a geek here and would like some advise. Is there any top line stellar free anti virus, mal, and spyware tool available? If you could shoot me the names of the best free ones..
I am able to navigate the comp very well but tech lingo makes me think i'm <snip> and all.

You may want to check out Comodo Internet Security. It has received top marks in the various tests and has steadily improved. It will allow you to run all of your browsers (IE, FF, Chrome, etc.) in "sandboxed" mode which will prevent anything from getting to your computer. There are a number of features you can check out for yourself. I'm running it on my XP drive and am quite satisfied with it's performance.
