i have recently installed NOD32 and it looks quite promising i did it to try it out, i have heard some great things. I had PCCillin before NOD32 and that was good also and NORTON INTERNET SECUIRITY(not so good).

i want to know in anyones opinion what the better antivirus is and if they know of any better ones than the ones listed :)

i use avast free ed. or avg free edition to clean most things in my shop, to keep myself virus free i stay away from *pron* sites or use linux most of the time.

i havent used any antivirus that has kept me 100% safe however i hear great things about a server driven version of trend micro's antivirus and use the online scanner from time to time, however theres always something that trend micro can't clean, i have the most problems with bobax variants and use a fix bobax found on norton.com or also use the app stinger.exe found here to remove specific viruses from machines.

i would suggest avast free ed. for the home user unless you pay for some pccillin from trend micro

Without a doubt in protection and detection NOD32 beats Trend Micro. Kaspersky antivirus is a little better then NOD32 is detection wise but nothing too worry about. Either NOD32 or Kaspersky would be fine too use.

Since your running NOD32 I recommend you follow this article on adjusting your NOD32 settings:

Give me (well actually, sell me) Trend Micro's PC-cillin anytime.

I just tried antivir free from this site that fleabus recommended, it found 7 viruses that avg free, avast free, trend micro online scan, pandasoftware online scan, and norton antivirus, missed or couldnt fix properly, I'll be using antivir more first from now on because of it. have not tried nod32 yet but may do so as well comparing to avast and antivir. Avg misses more than avast from my history of scanning compared over 6 computers, anyone have anything that will clean bobax after a fix bobax specific scan you download from norton fails to find any bobax infected files?i think the computer that had bobax was cleaned of it after running both antivir and avast however i was unable to spot for the last bobax infected file check based on filenames found from both of these programs, however they could have identified them as something else if bobax has any other name or alter ego.

And you have done exhaustive tests to back this opinion?

If you have, I'm all ears, and eyes.

Anyway, this topic has really been done to death, especially lately, and there are plenty of suggestions for software in the various "stickies".

I agree! How many times are we going to see posts of: What is the best ----> Antivirus/spyware/firewall threads.

I believe a sticky should be created with the top 3 of each category.

I would be glad too create a sticky with the top 3 free antiviruses and top 3 paid antiviruses etc....but no one would like my opinions...

That's only because you can never back them up with fact.
