The Difference Between The Two

So, after a day or so of mulling it over and looking at my parts I decided to,in the end, upgrade my SLI GTX480 to a single Gtx970...looks like less power consumption and a bit more processing power( if that's even the right term).

Its about an extra 3-400$, but looks like less of a headache.

I just dont understand the numbers and what they represent try as I might to research it in depth. I mean, I understand it has more power and uses less to run(which is good) I'm just not sure what the stats are really used for/represent in layman's terms.

Comparing these two EVGA GTX 970s I can't tell why one is better than the other or if the "Superclocked" one would be better for my graphic design and/or gaming I will be doing. the numbers them self look close(it's like a $20 difference, but still...)

So, recap on my build and its uses( so all the information is there):

    the build:
The Gimp Crate(not showing the GTX970). I have all the pieces on the list but the Hybrid drive and CP.I am considering a small separate HDD for a scratch disc for Photoshop.

How I plan to use it:

I plan to use it as a daily PC...surfing the web, facebook, twitter, deviantart, youtube, spotify....ect.

I originally build this for graphic design in mind (CS6/CC). Still the main use to be fair; usually with chrome tabs and spotify going at the same time as the editing programs. *The site says there is a compatibility error with the PSU, but it fits fine in the case.*

There are a few games I will play from time to time: LoL, Neverwinter, and a few Steam games I've bought.

So there it is, my question and as much information as I could think of.

Again, thank you for your time.

First off you need to look at that power supply, I am not sure it fits in that case, it may be too long. A quality 750W power supply will cost the same, have enough power and be more stable. Seasonic SS-760XP2 ATX 12V/EPS is a little more money and a much better PSU and will fit in the case I believe.
The easiest way to judge graphic cards is Tom's Hardware charts. Unless you want to get really geeky just look them up here:

He does lean a little towards nVidia, but is overall pretty fair.

Be sure you want Windows 8, there are still a few compatibility issues and a learning curve to be dealt with.

What resolution do you game at? Do you PVP or play FPS? The 970 will do very well at 1080P and OK at 1440, not so well at 4K gaming. Getting away from SLI will be a pleasant change for you.

It fits, might have to take the hot swap hardware out to make sure but I wont need it:

    (sorry for the bad lighting)

There's this punchout(I guess you'd call it) that isn't usually remembered:

    Gives me more room.

I've used it before, fairly used to it. I thought most of that was fixed with 8.1. Hmmm, I'll have to make sure my main programs will be okay.

Well, here's my monitor... so 1080. As far as games kind of a mixed bag I play League of Legends( considered a MOBA close enough to a PvP really). I do pretty much the whole package on Neverwinter from solo PvE, to Party, to PvP on there.I may grab Guildwars2. Most of my PC gaming is RPG/MMO. May pick up the new Warmachine PC game coming out(or maybe it has lost track) as well. Enough thinking with my fingers I guess :p

I hope that answers your questions

    *Side Note*

I did not realize how big that picture would be. I went to edit it but cannot see the button, hmm. So forgive me if that annoys you

NP, I have a BIG monitor.
I would say go for it, that rig should be great for your needs.
If you can beg an SSD boot drive that will be a nice Christmas gift. The SSD need not be large, just put your games and data on the 4GB.
