Right same dam f6 thing you see everywhere.
    Heres the situatiuon so far:

Set boot order to CD-ROM,Floppy,SCSI. USB Keyboard enabled.

Boots from windows XP pro + sp1 CD. Gets to the f6 prompt, does not respond to hitting f6. Later on get a screen to install stuff press 'S', I do so. Insert disc into floppy drive which was in this other pc i checked that the disc still had files on it and wrote them to CD just in case. So now its plugged into the other machine. I insert dsic and hit enter as prompted. Nothing happens goes bk to the press enter when ready screen. If you continue with the installation, it syas it cannot detect and sotrage devices press f3 to exit setup.

the HDD is a WD Raptor 150GB the Mobo is a Gigabyte Socket A nForce2 Ultra400

I have installed these 3rd party drivers onto my other HDD before but that has messed up and wont boot at all.

Ne suggestions why this wont work? and why oh why do u still need a floppy drive :(

yeh i have an f-lock button the light is on. I have also tried different keyboards.

The second prompt which is to start ASR is to press f2 and that works fine. So the f keys should be working.

ASR is for Automated System Restore.

Either you have the incorrect SATA drivers, SATA Raid drivers, or you just don't need them.

How many SATA ports do you have? Can you turn off SATA raid? Or set SATA as IDE. This might help you in this situation.

Floppy should be after SCSI or SATA.
I remember having some trouble with a Gigabyte long time ago
Review all your Bios settings you might need to enable the SATA or SCSI channel
You have to install the correct SATA drivers mixing with other MOBOs/Brands could make for problems.
    Here's few things ta do
Double check your HDD connections including power cable
    Check BIOS configuration
    Boot order CD rom first
Second = SCSI/SATA whatever HDD option your mobo has or needs
    Third = Floppy
The next thing I would do is run WD DataLifeguard tools (It's Free Diagnostic utility, if you dont already have it, or it's free download at WD web)

If the utility can see your drive, you can run diagnostic's or even format & partition with it.
If it cant see your drive it's either not connected properly, configured properly or Dead.

Also check Gigabyte web for the latest SATA/Raid drivers
if I remember right Files must be unzipped then loaded on floppy, I believe there should 5 files.
