The following file is missing or corrupt:

\Windows\System32\Config\System

This is the error message that is presented after POST, just before the OS begins to load.

Heres the thing...I don't even know which OS it is. I believe its 98 or NT. I tried to fix using Recovery Console with an XP Pro and 2K CD. Neither worked, which leads me to believe it's 98 or NT. Plus there is a Win NT sticker on the case, but of course, that might not mean anything.

Anyway, any ideas? I have a 98 CD and boot disk laying around, but nothing for NT.

Nevermind. I figured it out. It was XP Pro after all. I tried recovery console again using the XP disc. Had to restore the registry hives.
