    Follow the Adventure.

Three Motorbikes will cross Australia in a straight line with NO support.

Three “blokes” on motor bikes will travel across Australia from the most Eastern mainland point to the most Western.
They will leave from Cape Byron (Byron Bay) on Sunday 15th of May 2011 and travel in virtually a straight line along the 26th parallel to Steep Point in Western Australia.

This has never been done before and is the true Aussie Adventure. Read all about it

Good for them! I had plans to drive right around the Great South Land, but I gave up on the idea eventually. One reason is that so many people do it these days. It's not exactly an adventure any more.
These blokes are in for an interesting ride.

Yep, and most "adventures" undertaken in OZ nowadays are on lots of bitumen/tar/asphalt (whatever you call it).

In the '70's I undertook an "adventure" driving from Nhulunbuy (NT) out to Katherine (NT) and beyond. 500 miles (800 kilometres for non-metric readers :) ), nearly all dirt roads, and it took our convoy, 5 days. We had to notify the police, in advance, of our proposed date of start and finish, for our safety. :)

One day we covered 42 miles (70 kilometres approx), we were bogged continuously that day. We had to ford one river (the Goyder), with water over our bonnet and a tarp over the front of the ancient Land Rovers ( petrol motors) to hopefully stop the water from flooding our ignition). We had to look for "toilet paper turnoff", etc., as there were virtually no maps, no signs, and a mudmap only. :-D That was an "adventure" for us.

In luxury 4WDs, with airconditioning and GPS.
Remember the days when an "I crossed the Nullarbor" sticker meant you'd actually taken a few risks?
