    I get this error message when my computer shuts down;
    "THE INSTRUCTION 0x005368e1 could not reference the memory 0x00000000
    the memory could not be read." can anyone tell me how to fix this?

    Hmmm...could be a few things...what OS are you using? Win 9x? Are you afraid to do a format? It's not the only solution, but with problems like this, I personally like to start fresh.

    You could also try getting new system files. IIRC, memory 0x00000000 is a base memory address used when booting the system. You can get nice new system files from www.bootdisk.com.

    It could also be a hardware issue. You can get more RAM. I would recommend www.newegg.com (US) or www.canadacomputers.com (CDN). I got 512 MB PC3200 Kingston RAM for $60 CDN at Canada computers...so cheap.

    No, not afriad to do a format, but would hate to have to....... you know, all the backing up, re-installations, etc, etc...
    Running windows xp home.
    I will try the later suggestions before a fresh start. Thanx for the info.

    Click-on Next

    Click-on System Summary Only

    Click-on Next

    Click-on Plain Text

    Click-on Finish

    Click-on Save To File

    Browse to My Documents

    Accept the default file name, close the report wizard and everest. POst the report as an attachement.

    Download and install Process Explorer.

    After you have it installed, run the program;

    Click-on File

    Select Save as

    Save the file to My Documents.

    Post the report as an attachment.

    FYI, it is possible to setup an unattended installation. W/ a little research, you can find out the tools and steps you need to create an install cd that will do pretty much all the work for you. (ie system setup [comp name, date/time settings, etc], app installs, backup work) Try googling unattended install if you're at all interested. I've found a few tutorials for almost any level of customization.

    You did it right. I see nothing out of the ordinary in your processes.

    Download MEMTEST86+, unzip the file, create a CD from the ISO image. DO NOT BURN THE ISO STRAIGHT TO CD. Make sure your computer is configured to boot from CD, put the CD in the CD Drive and reboot your computer. Computer will boot from the MEMTEST86+ CD, follow the on-screen instructions. If after 5 passes no erors have been found your memeory is OK.

    If you don't have a CD burning application download and install CDBurnerXP.

    doesent this error code have something to do w/ memory--perhaps you have added new memory or switched the sticks??

    a completly blind guess

    That is why I asked PrivatePile-sir to run a memory test using MEMTEST86+.

    Shadow,
    I ran the mem test and let it pass 4 times, never failed. Where you able to open the attachments i sent, that you requested? Was it helpful in anyway?

    Yes I was able to open the logs. The processes log shows nothing out of the ordinary. The Everset log just gave me your computer hardware.

    Start -> Run

    enventvwr.msc

    OK

    Click-on Application and then System in the left window pane, look for Error in the right window pane around the time you shut down. Right-click on the Error select Properties in the Description box want does it say.

    DESCRIPTION:
    The Panda Process protectioin driver service failed to start due to the following error:
    The system cannot find the file specified.

    I un-installed this program months ago, never really used it, but did install it, then did an un-install because it was locking up my comp.

    OK, run regedit and do a search on Panda and delete every key you find in HKEY_CURRENT_USER and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. Shutdown, Reboot, and then shutdown again. Are you still getting the error message.

    Shawdow, I just went into the admin tools and looked at services to see what was running. The AVG 7.o is there but I did not see panda.

    Just to check something else, is that the entire error message?

    Make sure there is not anything else listed, like smc.exe.
