I have resorted to using a NetGear usb wifi adapter to fix the internet connection desktop(Dell XP),hoping that the usb signal will connect to the router and bring in the internet connection. This task however has been futile as when I click on details, it says it is connected, but there is limited or no connectivity. The packets sent are 1012 and 24 are being received. Are there any solutions as to how to solve this problem?

When I click on Wireless Network Connections icon it says that it is connected to my SSID and that is of excellent strength

    Hi

One thing I would try is to disable your Anti-virus and/or any 3rd party firewall you have installed, just to make sure one of those is not blocking your connection.

Give this guide a go HERE

I have disabled the antivirus software on my desktop, but the internet was still unable when I tried to pull it up. Since then, I reinstated the antivirus software.

Does the adapter's security type match that of the router?

The security of the usb wifi adapter and the router I believe have the same security.
