the invisible mouse

    I have an old P3 running Windows 2000pro (newly installed) and the mouse won't work...keyboard's fine (both hp manufacture, not usb) but the computer won't even recognize that the mouse is plugged in when I search for new hardware. The mouse has been successfully tested elsewhere. Suggestions on how to make the little bugger work?

    Did the mouse come with a driver cd? If so install that and try it again.

    no, i didn't get it new unfortunately. i checked hp's site for drivers and didn't find anything, so the search continues.
