Since there is so much negativity in the world, I have decided to try and combat it as best I can, by learning to see and appreciate all the truly minor things in my life that actually could brighten it considerably if I just noticed them. Minor, small, completely free and hopefully easy to repeat, the little things make the moment a little better.

I'm sure you all know what I mean. :)

So to combat the negativity a little bit, I'm proposing a list of those small little pleasure, right here, where it is easy to find. The more is posted, the more moments will be made better.

The things that happened to me today that made me want a thread like this are:

    1) When I got into my car to drive to work this morning, the AC was already set to the exact temperature I want it to on cold fall mornings.

    2) When I came to the coffee place where I stop in the morning, there were a lot of customers in there, but not a single person in line. (No, they don't have a drive-through.)

    3) On my drive home from work, every single traffic light turned green just in time.

    :)

    I've had a good day.

Such a great idea Mimsy! When you focus on the bad of course things are going to seem worse then they are.

Here is one that stuck out:

Today at work my co-worker offered me some of her mac and cheese, just to be nice!

    Good thread Mimsy

Looking for positives attracts them too!

A client surprised me with a lovely bunch of flowers and a "Thank You" card for getting her off her charges...unexpected but added to my work satisfaction and lack of sleep.

I got tipped $5 and a bottle of wine, and traded it in for one of the best wines I have ever had. I paid $3 for a semi high dollar chardonay. DANG it was good! I love me some Malolactic fermentation. This wine is the most temperature sensitive one I have ever had. And it can have an attitude that rivals a red wine... Interesting stuff.

I wake in the morning and say to myself ok lets get on with it.

that first cup of coffee always makes me feel good.

i am always the first up in our house and the first hour of calm when i just wake up slowly is great.

    Good idea, Mimsy.

I try and wake up with a grateful and positive attitude, and to go to bed with the same. If I do so, usually the rest of the day in between works out pretty good, as well. (There are those occasional cruddy days, but I try not to dwell on them.) ~ Works for me.

    Right there with you Em.

I also love watching the way the sunshine makes our ocean waves sparkle, the sound and smell of the salty ocean water and feeling the water mist cover my face when waves splash around me, the sensation of sinking my feet into the sucking sand when the waves rush back.

During my regular exercise routes around beach areas, I enjoy the different scents of plants and flowers...always different with each season.

I also particularly enjoy that moment of total quiet and stillness on a beach just before a sunrise and then watching the sky going through its colours towards those warm, deep rose and yellow hues, with the reflections thrown on the ocean's waves before the day fully wakes up to a clear blue.

Successfully resolved a long going problem yesterday then had time off so took mum out...and decided on an impromptu haircut/style for her. We walked straight into a great Hair Salon with no appointment, the stylist immediately took to mum, took over, made her look gorgeous and then gave her a discount!

Later after dropping her off, while going past a caterer, I noticed they had a pile of boxes...upon my request, they told me to help myself...PERFECT!!! with the next room I'm going to renovate and paint, I needed 20 boxes for packing away and storing books and stuff...so I happily got more than enough boxes!

    Yep. Good day yesterday.

I actually got the PPIMV working nicely on my '68 plexi clone and got to play it at volume , with beer, for 2 hrs. Was a great weekend even if I can't hear out of half my head today :D

We got back from our trip tonight. I like how the cats come running to the driveway to meet us.

I'll have to second that. I came home from work an hour earlier than usual today, and the cat came running to the door to meet me, and was so happy that I came home early. Cats turn a house into a home... :)

Whenever I come home from working or the shops, my cat runs up the driveway in front of me, all excited and waits for me to open the car door, meowing, as if to say "Hurry up, dad!", lol. :) A cute habit, I suppose, but I'm always kinda skeered she might end up under the car. All very well, trusting me and all, but I have to sound the horn sometimes to make her move along. Still, at least someone is waiting up for me, eh. ;)

Reminds me of a cat we had when we lived where we had a steep driveway, I drove a stick and once going up if you had to stop the only solution was to roll back down and try again. This damn cat would slowly walk to the middle of the driveway and just sit. Honking did nothing, had to roll back down and act like I was coming after her. She would scamper off but return to her same spot once I started back up the hill. Once I managed to get to the top I was like :tas - wheres that cat, I'm going to wring her neck. Of course I never would even if I could catch her, she knew just how long to stay away. The kids loved it of course.:D
