My harddrive is divided into two partitions (c: and d:). c: partition works fine, but i can't save or modify any files on d: partition. every time pops-up error "the media is write protected". is there any solution to get rid of it?

Your D: partition probably has your recovery files. If it does, you shouldn't be messing with it.

What are the sizes of the two partitions? Space used?:wave:wave

yes, i read this thread. i didn't get any help from it. there was also written about "lock" command, but where i should use it. in command prompt it doesn't work. also i am running on windows xp.

No, i use d: partition to store my everyday files and c: for windows and programs. c: size is 20 GB, used 10,6 GB and d: size is 54,5 GB, used 21,8 GB.

Try this, from a command prompt type diskpart. Select drive d, then type
    attributes volume clear readonly

i tried that, but "attributes volume clear readonly" doesn't to anything, it just list all the possible commands.

    Then diskpart
    Then attributes volume clear readonly

I tried that, it doesn't work. i have diskpart v.5.1.2600 and there isn't command "attributes". is there any way possible to upgrage diskpart to get this command.

Only solution that I came up was to format the partition and it helped. I am once again able to write to the partition.
