The Monitor Has Probably Finished Its Work - What About

I've been using a good quality LCD monitor NEC2690WUXi for about a year as a display for internet TV via hdmi cable with splitter for audio to soundbar. I don't know if this use has caused the malfunction, which is displayed by a broken picture, see first photo. The second photo should show the monitor menu, which is also crumbled. I tried connecting it to a normal pc, it does it all the time. I.e. it probably has reached the end of its useful life and is to be thrown away? Or is it worth repairing? I wouldn't ask here, but it wasn't exactly cheap, however it has served its time. Has anyone encountered anything similar, even with other types?

Thanks for any advice or responses

    Peter

    NONONO
    that NEC 2690 is a high-end 26.5 inch monitor.
You should get at least 5 years from it... regardless of what you are using it for.
(If not just put it in a box and I'll be happy to pay for shipping... LOL)

It looks like a driver issue; not necessarily nec, could be intel, could be windows...
could be that internet tv's settings got wonky
I don't know your system so I'd be guessing.

Open a browser window and go to the nec website
in your case that would probably be here:
    www.sharpnecdisplays.us
look for support and service/ and then download and software.
(I'd send ya the link but Sharp's support site is a bitch to navigate if you aren't using one)

At least start there and see what they say.

But given it's been over a year, somebody somewhere in your system has updated something and it's thrown the rest of it out of whack

If no good comes from it then check Device Manager and see if there is a yellow exclamation triangle showing up beside anything.

    Oops I should have explained;
The monitors we buy nowadays all have software/firmware installed inside the monitor.
Sometimes their settings go *poof* and we can't even see the monitor's settings/adjustments when we push on any of them buttons on the side or back of the monitor.

They should display as soon as you rturn on the monitor, even withough starting the computer.

It's why the best place to start is at nec since you've already gotten same results using multiple systems.

    Two things threw me;

    SharpNEC still sells the 2690
The only difference is it's now WUXI2 instead of WUXI1
Probably because they have added "sync" features to the display.

    Talk about a pedigree!

Second one was obvious; you said you'd been using it for about a year.

Forgive my ignorant assumptions of the matter.

    Here, this might make ammends:
    Found the link:
    software, drivers, users manual, etc...
    https://www.sharpnecdisplays.us/products/displays/lcd2690wuxi-bk

Doing a couple downloads is alot cheaper than buying another monitor :)

    Sincerely

    Bill

    Hello Bill,
I said I've been using it for about a year as an iptv display, not a new one. It's from 2006, sorry, didn't want to address that here ;-) First thing I did was connect it to a windows pc. No change. No problem with drivers. I'll try calling sharp/nec support here. Thanks for the responses

You got 18 years out of it ya did good!

You beat me by 2 years... My old Acer was from 2008.

Ps it still works fine, but my eyes dont work as good anymore

So I replaced the old girl with this 32 inch Acer billboard of a gaming monitor
being driven by a Radeon with hardware on it that it could pilot the space shuttle.
All for less than 700 bucks.

Hey at least my eyes don't remind me about my age anymore.
