I'm sitting here at 9:00am "somewhat" hungover from the Beer Garden last night, wondering what I'm doing up so early. Actually, I don't feel too bad all things considered.
This weekend is Sam Steele Days, a local celebration in Cranbrook and once again my wife and I decided to partake of the festivities.
The evening started off with a laugh, we had arrived at the venue and saw a couple of cop cars involved with a group of attractive girls outside the gate. The girls happened to be my daughter and her friends. I honked the horn and waved and a big grin broke out on her face. We waited inside the gate for them to find out what was going on. Turns out they were walking down the street drinking beer. $115 fine each. I asked why a group of attractive girls couldn't talk their way out of the tickets. The cops were female.
We drank a few beers and waited through a couple of mediocre bands for the headliner to come on stage, a coverband from Vancouver called "Big Radio". They were here last year and were excellent. They didn't disappoint, and were even heavier than last year, playing stuff from Metallica, Buck Cherry, ACDC etc. I was drunk enough to dance so we hit the dance floor and ended up right at the stage and danced every song. Things became a bit concerning when the "slamdancing" started. Young guys all around us smashing into each other and pushing each other down. It's tough to dance while you're protecting your wife from an unruly mob. One smoking hottie beside us, (there were scantily clad young girls everywhere...holy crap!!!) was filming the band with her cell phone, finally had enough, turned and shoved three or four of the guys away so hard they fell in a pile. This was about the time the bouncers arrived and set up in front of the stage and got some control. I was sure it was gonna turn into a brawl. It was very entertaining, I'll say that.
One more thing, the porta-potties outside were horrific. Sometimes it's great to be a guy.

When you reach my age, it takes about a month to recover from the :drink and :dancer
Glad that you enjoyed yourselves - sounded kind of Fun :D

Hey Grumbles, I'm older than you. I find the recovery isn't too bad, I just can't do it as often as I used to.
    Happy Birthday by the way.
