the never ending firewall discussion(outpost ??'s)

Been trying out Outpost Pro for a month.....
very pleased with it..past every test I could find... no other met that...not even Outpost free or ZA

but Outpost Pro would take up about 30,000k of memory and the database files were taking up almost 600 Mb (not a typo, yes Megab) on my harddrive...

can other Outpost users verify this?
seems like quite a hog.
is that the price I need to pay for extra security?

Is it worth the money over the free firewalls out there....

Thats a lot of memory. Like Star, I dont recall, but my guess would be to check your options for limiting the log file size and\or delete automatically at set period options.

I have had programs that used a lot of memory and got very slow simply due to a couple hundred meg log file, so thats where to look first.

Still love my Zone Alarm Plus though

Well...I re-installed it...and memory usage seems a bit more in line...

I can clear logs (i'll keep an eye on that)

but are there any users of Outpost Pro that can tell me how to set the log file size?
I found it in the free V1.0, but I can't find anything in Pro V2.0

Figured it out... appears this is an issue with Outpost....'

the logs can get out of control so memory usage goes sky high...

Disable logs, all is good.
There is no way to limit the size without disabling but that is on the developers wish list....

Thought I would pass this along.....

So if you are running outpost pro, you might want to check the file size in the Agnitum directory....
