The right backup software

I have several drives filled with tons of old video files and editing projects that I do. In my comp case, I always have my main system drive, plus the current media drive. Every time a media drive fills up, I swap it out with a new one. I buy two drives of the same size, for backing up, using a USB dock for the second drive. So far, I've been backing everything up manually, and it's a pain!
It seems every backup software I hear about or try puts everything into a compressed folder, or will overwrite everything since the last backup, or something else that doesn't make sense for me.

What I want is a program that I can schedule to automatically backup files that are new or modified, on a weekly basis or so, whenever I plug in my external drive (since I don't want to have it plugged in all the time).

Is there anything that does just this?
The last program I tried was Easeus. There were a couple options that looked like they would work, but I have had no luck.

    Thank you in advance!

    Hi

I know what you mean, I do use one application in Microsoft's SyncToy (works in Windows 7 x64), basically you setup a sync pair of folders, and then choose a setting

Can setup multiple folders to sync various folders from main PC to a portable HDD, although its not an automatic thing that runs when you plug in a external HDD, but a quick manual run will do all the syncs, I have a whitepaper on the settings somewhere I cannot put my fingers on as yet, but when I do I will attach to a post. But a good rundown HERE

Another to try is Karens Replicator

DavidGP, just did a test, and SyncToy is perfect! Exactly what I needed! Super easy too.
Thank you thank you thank you! :D

Im a bit late here but have you tried Cobian. It will do schedule backups and can use winzip compression if you desire. It also has the option to do incremental backups so that the first backup is a full one and subsequent backups only backup files that have changed.

I use a two monthly cycle so that I have one backup a week. The first one is a full one then the following three are incremental. Backup 4 is another full backup the 5,6 and 7 are incremental. The 8th is another full on but it deletes the 1st one. This means that I have weekl ackups for the last 2 months.

    May be worth a go?

With synctoy if you accidentally delete a file and run it the the sync will delete it because it is a synchronisation tool rather than a backup. It does still have its uses though. I use synctoy to sync docs on my laptop with and NAS storage
