I am not going to comment on the election or state of the economy as it is right now one way or the other but your comment "Life imitating art" reminded me what a wise old man told me when I was very young.
He said "If you want to know what is really going on in the world read the comics not the news!"

Just funny to me, this was a 2000 skit, now it is 2016. And Rump is pres elect.
