Hey Guys....I dont know if you can help me with this, but worth a shot. I play the sims....like an addict. I have all the expansion packs. Its still version one, as The Sims 2 wont run on this computer.
Anyways, I download custom objects ALOT. Almost everyday I am downloading things. This slows the game down alot. I know there are things I could do to speed it up, but I dont know what those things are. So I'm hoping maybe theres a fellow sim-addict out there that can help me out?
At the moment it takes like 10 minutes to start up, and then it goes sooooo slow. The only time its ok is when I'm at home on my own lot. If I try to go downtown, on vacation, to a Makin Magic lot, or anything like that, it takes forever and a day.

    Thnx ;)

The only way to decreace loading time in this case is to reduce the number of objects, I'm afraid.

You might also want to give your computer a spring clean : get rid of spyware, defrag etc.

i dont think there is much you can do. make sure you have plenty of hard drive space available make sure no programs are running in the background and defrag like goldfish said. other then that you would have to upgrade your computer parts. if you want to go that route then we can help

Thanks guys...im in the process of doing my cleanup....I know I need to upgrade..this comp is so outdated..I only have 128MB of ram on here, and its RD, so I cant find it in the stores anymore. I think I just need a new computer lol. I have a pretty good video card I think...Radeon 9000?
Id gladly take your suggestions..all I really use this thing for is my gaming, and some light clerical work that I do for my husbands company.

    Thanks :)

the rd-ram would probably cost you half the price of a new system.
also if your video card is any number less then a radeon 9600 its too slow. :)

That system is fine... really, its well within the specs of the Sims... that graphics card is fine for that, really.

You don't need to spend hundreds of dollars just to play a single game nicley :p

You could upgrade your graphics card, I recon, if its AGP (which it probably is, but I shouldn't make assumptions). Won't cost you much. I since it uses RD ram (favoured initially for P4 systems BTW, but not any more it seems), theres not much you can do about the ram, just make sure you're not using ram with fancy visual stuff.

Sorry if that was a little vague, I might get back to you on it if you feel at all inclined.

well im sure she would like to play the sims 2. thats a very intensive 3d program. its very playable on my 3ghz with a geforce 5200. but it stutters a little and anything lower i wouldnt recomend. also with 128mb of ram any program would run slow and upgrading the video card wouldnt help the constant swap file paging.
