Right you lot. post your weekend plans, only you must do it with a British flair...don't go all pear shaped with your snooty snotty, hoity toity American style posts now innit?

Today - Work all day and feck all tonight.

Saturday - Recable server room in the morning at work...afternoon, dig a bloody 'ole in the ground for a piece of playground equipment.

    Sunday - Church and relaxation.

I'm taking a good bit of time for myself this weekend, because I can. :)

Today is physical therapy, then work, then a spot o'ale at my favourite tavern whilst watching part of the huge musical festival we're having this weekend.

Saturday I'll be at a family birthday party, then home to do bugger all.

Sunday is all about tankards of ale and the NFL, until I quite possibly end up arse over elbow. :-D

Likely in the style of that Shakespeare dood!

eg. "I an going to partake of that royally festive fair of a Greggs Sausage Roll, forsooth they are mightily scrumptious, and alas merrily later in the afternoon verily pray to the allmighty soccer god to allow my exalted team of brave warriors to be triumphant in battle"

Me well going to delete spammers and troublecausers from the forum, I have evilass fingers today!!

    Wrong...

You must use words like "oi" and "innit" and grtuitous us of the word "me" as in "Me nickers have gone all wonky on me bum now innit?"

Equally WRONG as thats Cockney and not at all indicative of "British", just like saying all Americans speak in Cajun longue.

Like the USA, the UK has many local dialects and those have various slang words that are while not pure "British" in the sense on the word are indeed British twists, like Brum, Cockney, Scouse, Manc etc etc etc

Oh this thread died a death just now!!!

I'm sorry to confuse. Certainly I am refined enough good sir to know different accents are about in Her Majesty's realm...but I should have said you must speak Chav, and then it would have made more sense now innit?

The average American is like a Budgerigar. Can sort of speak English, LoL!;) They either think English all talk like East End Spivs, or like 'Lord Muck'.:p ~ Hearing people trying to do an Aussie accent is always good for a laugh. I don't know anyone that talks like Paul Hogan or The Crocodile Hunter, except on T.V.LOL

We've got an Outback commercial running here in which every single word is done in fake Aussie - sickening.

Makes one wish to run to the loo. ;)

I spent the first half of the weekend with lots of people and fun, and will spend Sunday recovering...

Friday night: Illuminati card game with The Guy and his parents.

Saturday: Day-long tailgate on campus, then jumped up and down shouting for three straight hours during the game itself. We won!! :celebrate

Sunday: Slept in. Woke up and snuggled The Guy for a while. Slept more. Lazily drinking coffee and playing Monkey Island now.

That reminds me of a previous boss at a major bank who had a Boston accent. I didn't understand one word he said throughout the interview, said yes and nodded when it sounded okay to do so but got hired anyway. :) That was my 1st job in Canada just 1 month after our arrival here in Canada. Of course only later did I find out that my boss was a Bostonian.

I learned 4 years of (proper) English at school overseas and boy that's quite different than American and Canadian English eh? never mind the accents, twangs etc.
