The Zune that Stole Xmas

Just wanted to vent a little... the girlfriend & I went Christmas shopping.. she wanted to get the kids .. either Ipods, Zunes, or PSPs. One of ours has an Ipod (for the second time - first one got stolen) The boys went with PSPs (me too) so She got a Zune after talking to a store clerk and asking several questions that the clerk may have unknowingly lied about... the biggy being the Zune is not a device detected as mass storage (like some cheaper MP3 players) you MUST use the Zune software... nice. He is the pisser - the Zune software is NOT compatible with Media Center below 2005 & of course her's is 2002. No matter how many updates you run. So I didn't follow XPMC because corporations don't use it... but if you were an end user, every year you were supposed to buy a new Media Center Edition to stay current??
So I spent the day after Christmas listening to her complain about M$ and how if she'd bought an Ipod - it'd be working now... I must say I was a bit ticked off my self. Had to reload her computer with XP so it would be compatible.. thanks Bill.
I'd tell every consumer I see looking at the Zune - DON"T DO IT!!!
Not that I love Apple either... I couldn't really recommend any large MP3/entertainment device.. maybe Creative.. I'll stick with the little 2 gb thumb type players for a while... or the PSP! woohoo!
