There should be a test to pass before giving advice

My mother just forwarded me a newsletter from one of her genealogy groups which suggests the best way to speed up a slow-running computer is to reformat the hard drive and reinstall just the operating system.

*sigh*

Thank gods I had the foresight to limit her privileges, and that soon she'll have her own machine she can do whatever the heck she wants to.

 

I got to agree with ya.... Some people really should be asked to pass a test.

Then there are certain people who think they know everything when they really know nothing innocent :-D). I dont claim to know alot myself but Im still learnin

 

Well... it's guaranteed to speed it up. After all, there's nothing on the drive to clutter it up... Except Windows, which is clutter enough.

I'd love to see an MG Computer Geek Test.

 

You could write one up and maybe post it as a poll?
A few multiple choice( about 10 ) basic questions.
A few trick questions to keep people on their toes.
