There's a small problem w/Ad-Aware SE Personal 1.01

If you've installed the latest Ad-Aware (SE Personal) and clicked the Check for Updates Now link on the main Status panel, you've seen the announcement that there's a New Version (1.02, I think) available, And THEN you've seen the notice that there's a new Reference File available.

If you click the VERSION button that says OK, you'll jump to a Web page that doesn't mention the new version.

If your click the Reference File button that says OK, you'll get a new Reference File, dated 10.08.04 (R2), and you will be able to scan with that one (apparently), but when you close Ad-Aware and re-open it, you'll see that the previous Reference File (yesterday's: 09.08.04 (R1)) is now loaded.

There's a question on the Ad-Aware Forums about this glitch, and the answer is not very helpful, but it's reasonable to assume that this is just a temporary glitch -- probably related to the fact that tens of MILLIONS of users downloaded the new SE Personal (free) version yesterday when it was released.

Anyhoo, just so you know there's nothing wrong with your PERSONAL copy, I thot I'd post this news.

"Check for Updates Now" tomorrow or the next day, and they'll (Lavasoft) probably have it all fixed.

Can you please let us know whether the update to 1.02 "takes," MA?

As I noted above, the update to the new Ref File only "took" for one scan. The next time I opened A-A, the old (yesterday) Ref File was loaded.

Also as I noted above, the new version wasn't actually available a couple of hours ago on the download sites.

 

Uploaded to the new 1.02 version and the AOL iwon zlib.dll glitch is gone. That's fast work by the Lavasoft people

It's AOK. With the new install, if you check the bottom right of the Status panel, you should see that it's registered as SE Personal, Build 1.02. (That's 1.02 for the careless readers.) Build 1.01 was yesterday's release, and this is a response-to-feedback version update.
