Just wondering if someone can help me out - I know very little about what is needed to play specific games on a computer. I am trying to install a new game and it is unable to do so because I need 256 RAM and I only have 248, the other problem is that I need a "Display Adapter" that says 3D hardware with Pixel shader support. What do I need to do/buy/install so I am able to install this game?

Thanks for all your help (in advance)

A guess here would be you have something like an onboard Intel card. Most games play best with an ATI or Nvidia brand card. Of course, you are short on ram, so buying 256 megs is fairly cheap, around 50 bucks.

you can get a real cheap video card here: www.newegg.com look around until you find something in your price range, im guessing that you arent looking for the latest and greatest. You can also grab a 256 or 512 mb stick of ram here for around 50-60 bucks. By the way, what game was it that you were trying to install?

You need to find out if you have an AGP slot or whatever (for the video card) before you rush out and buy something that won't fit.

If you don't know, use EVEREST.

If you are still unsure, post the log here as an attachment and someone will look at it for you. (don't copy and paste the log, only attach it please)

If you don't know if your motherboard has an agp slot look for a brown slot that is seperate from the pci slots (white).
Ps i'm too curious about what game your trying to install.

Yup, a lower end GeForce or Nvidia should work, in the 100 dollar range. Those budget titles tend to be a bit buggy (shipped early) and tend to run slow regardless of your machine.
