Thief 2 Problem

I just got the game the other day and i've installed the game but when i attempt to play it i get an error with the thief2.exe

and also this copy of the game is XP compatible

 

Did you try rebooting your pc?

 

I've never had to do that before for a game :confused

i suppose i could give it try


also i found the problem description in the readme for the game says download the lastest drivers for the video card i went to do that and found out what they have on the net and then i looked at what i have i've got the lastest ones.

I restarted the PC it still happens.

 

You could always shutdown you pc and wait about 5 minutes just to be safe and turn you pc back on and see if that helps.

what is the error? is there anything in the windows event viewer for an application error?

make sure directx is up to date, and your sound and video drivers.

 

The error is "Thief 2: The Metal Age has encounted an error and will need to close" and when i go to see what the error report is its to do with Thief 2.exe

I'm up to date with directx and as for Video i recently got a new video card put in and i've tried still does it



Before we go any further its not a something i downloaded i brought and its 100% Legit.

 

try running it in compatibility mode, right click on the game exe, and choose compatibility for win 98.

Yeah and What did i just say in my first post thesmokingun its XP compatible even says so on the cover


but hey i'll give that thing a try.

 

The game still is'nt working for me......

its weird the first game works fine but the second does'nt.

 

then you might want to return the game to where you bought it and see if they will let you exchange it, becuase it's sounding like it's defective.
