thinking a bad storm fried my psu

hey guys

about 2 days go we had very bad storm roll in on us

it fried some good stuff of mine it got my kvm and router are net

i think got my psu as well on system i build

all my stuff was connect to 2 power strips

night storm hit us i was sleep i left my pc on

when i got up next day tryed turning system back on

it was a no go i know it somehow got my psu in it

psu is thermaltake 550w 2.0

am not sure if it got my motherboard or not

i hopeing not.

i do not know what look for when something is fried

my motherboard is asus m2a-vm if need to know that.

 

You don't have to list the specs if the pc was working perfect recently. Dig out the mobo manual, find out how to clear cmos, do it. If that doesn't work, you can try each stick of ram in each of the slots. Once the pc posts, set up bios. If it still won't post, you can take everything out of the case onto a cardboard/newspaper, do the process of elimination to troubleshoot a faulty part, start with a barebone of mobo, cpu, ram & gpu, work your way up by adding one part at a time, listen to beep codes, google for explanations on a working pc, you should be able to find the culprit.

BTW, it's about time you invested in an interruptible power supply. Doesn't have to be hundreds of dollars. A $50 one with 1 min up time is enough. Pretty much everything in my house goes through a UPS of some sort.
