Thinkpad Won't Boot After Windows Update

I’m using a Lenovo Thinkpad P15s with Windows 11. Turned on laptop and powered/booted up just fine. Got notification for Windows update which I installed. When booted back up got Windows screens about diagnosing/repairing problem. (Assumed update and boot problem are related. Looks like common problem perusing the internet.) Tried to restart several times but same result. Went to advanced options and wandered through options to uninstall updates. Unable to do so because don’t have recovery key and did not further pursue. My files are fully backed up online. Problem? Solution?

Have you tried to boot into Safe Mode?

Try F8 or Shift+ F8 from the BIOS screen. May have to tap it a few times depending on the timing.

 

How do I get to safe mode? When I get into options via the problem/repair route (bsod?), only option is to get to command prompt. Pathway to safe mode from there.

How to enter safe mode Windows 11 Lenovo Thinkpad:
At the sign-in screen, hold the Shift key down while selecting Power > Restart. After the PC restarts to the Choose an option screen, select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart. After the PC restarts, a list of options is shown. Select 4 or F4 to start your PC in Safe Mode.

 

Never get to signin screen. Goes to automatic repair and then diagnose PC. Eventually gets to restart and advanced options buttons. Clicking on either one does nothing.

 

Can you get to the BIOS screen?
Restart your computer. Immediately press the BIOS key 5-10 times after the power on button is pressed.
(BIOS key for ThinkPad is F1)

 

Cannot get to BIOS at startup via F1.
