    Dear Experts

I want to change SSD for ThinkPad X1 carbon to a bigger size , I need to disable power for the internal battery first

    I tried to follow (pressing F1) :

    https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/au/en/solutions/pd025206

    F1 didn't work for me, I pressed Enter then F1 then Ctrl + S

But I can't get to the Config option ,,,,I am not sure why that is happening ?

Please see the snapshot what i am getting

Can't you just remove the battery?

As battery is internal need bit of work would be easier via BOIS

All notebook batteries are internal. My point is, the vast majority of notebook batteries are easily removable.

I have never seen where the battery could be disabled in the BIOS. You need the battery enabled to see what you are doing in the BIOS.

And besides, disabling the battery in the BIOS is not the same thing as ensuring no voltages are present - which is what you need to do here.

Notebook batteries don't last forever. That is exactly why they are designed to be removed and replaced.

    See this: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/pd030267

If you don't feel comfortable doing this, I recommend taking the notebook to a shop and let them replace your SSD. There is no shame in holding someone else accountable for any damage that might happen during such upgrades.

    I will try that

    Code:

    Thanks for the link

This is what I found on Lenovo website below :

Okay, but that does not ensure all voltages removed. It just means the notebook will not run on battery.

    Thanks Digerati

In case someone needs to access the BOIS for any reason

Press F12 keyboard button for boot menu option yes Press F12 not keyboard "Enter"

Then Press [Tab] key button on a keyboard to change from [Boot Menu] to [App Menu] as below :
