I have been working on getting my new Lenovo ThinkPad Z61m up and running for over a week. It came with Vista. rolleyes

First, Lenovo tech support sent me recovery disks then I realized that my software "WorkPerfect" needed a patch to work with Vista, then I (this is my fault... dumb dumb..) I changed default in the control panel to Mircrosoft. Then with tech support we downloaded three links and then 32 up dates and unchecked a part of "Think Vantage" which caused an error message. An error message directing me to contact Lenovo because of "known incompatipility issues" with Microsoft Vista.

Tech had me run PC Doctor... nothing too much wrong with machine except the keyboard... They said it has Incompatability Errors and Blue Screen Errors.

Well.... What do you think? Should I take it back to the store. (I have 90 days) or send it to the IBM Repair Center.

When it is working, I like it alright ... but it is very heavy to lug around.. 7 or 8 lbs.

I will likely have to spend another $400 to $500 dollars.. now that I have a better idea of what I want.. 2.00Mhz and a maybe twice as much ram.

I have to confess... this computer was purchased at a discounted price as it was a "display model" and apparently a return from 5 months ago according to the warrenty adjuster lady. Out the door I payed $600.

Give IBM a chance???? :confused Go solve the problem now and buy a light weight.

Is there much discussion of incombatablity Issues with Vista... or just me.

Thank you for your considered opinion. I feel I am among friends.

If you really dont like the laptop, now is your chance. Dont be suprised if you incounter the same problem with another brand, Vista is still playing catchup. ed
