Since I bought this new computer with W10 a month ago, I downloaded iTunes so I could play my music. I have run into this problem with a number of songs, I don't know how many, but I get this message 'This computer is not authorized to play songXXX. Would you like to authorize it?"
I am wondering if I downloaded an old version of iTunes, would it play my songs without getting this error message?

All I get is "Places just like Apple"

What happens if you select "Would you like to authorize it?"
Also, are the songs DRM protected?

These are songs from albums and CDs. You have to sign in with your Apple ID. We have an old email address and so we don't remember our password anymore.

Then go through the procedures for them to remind you of the PW or give you a PW reset link, or to allow you to use a new email address.

They are not very customer service orientated. Sent them a message yesterday, so I will just wait and see - not a lot of optimism.

Where did you buy the CDs from, or did you burn them?

We are talking way back when CDs first came out, how many years ago was that? I think I have some of them still, but haven't looked for them lately.

Maybe go through the runs with this? https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201251

If you get the vigilink, just right click the link, copy link address, and paste it into a new tab or window. It should work. Clicking my middle mouse button also opens the link as it should.

Looks like I might have to re-register because I a number of years ago I changed from dslextreme to yahoo.com. So I can't use my old email address because they send a message to the old address and you are supposed to use the link they provide to reset your password.
Is it possible to download an old version of itunes, that I had before?

You could try resetting the password or remembering your apple id through this link - http://iforgot.apple.com/

Or maybe try contacting Apple to see if they can help you.

Otherwise, if you want to try an older version of iTunes, you can go here - http://www.oldversion.com/windows/itunes/

I would suggest trying the steps of recovery and/or contacting apple before resulting to an new account or an older version of iTunes.

I have a call into Apple to reset the new email address and not use the old address, because sending a password to the old address, when no one is there doesn't help me.
    Will try your link, thanks.

May I suggest you try the iTunes forum for windows? I have seen this problem in the posts but as it didn't affect me I can't remember what the answer was but I'm pretty sure there was one. They are all just users but have amazing knowledge.
