It's a High Definition Audio Device

    HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_8086&DEV_2804&SUBSYS_80860101&REV_1000

This is from a gigabyte H55M-UD2P (latest bios)

I can tell it's manufacturer is Intel from the VEN_8086 string but I have no idea what it is or where to get a driver for it.

I have installed all the latest drivers for everything else in my computer, but cannot get a driver to work for this device. It's very frustrating.

    Hi

What Windows version and Service Pack?

Have you checked in Services that the Windows Audio service is Started and startup type set to Automatic?

Any devices at all in Device Manager that have yellow ! marks and if so what?

Is that the right Mobo model code? only asking as nothing shows at Gigabyte for it there are a GA-P55M-UD2 rev 1.0 and 1.1 is this one of those?

    http://www.gigabyte.us/Support/Motherboard/BIOS_Model.aspx?ProductID=3321
    GA-H55M-UD2H

I'm running windows 7 pro 64 (all updates).

Windows audio service is running and set to automatic.

Windows Device manager has a yellow mark beside the high definition audio device, it says it can't start code 10. It's hardware ID string is:HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_8086&DEV_2804&SUBSYS_80860101&REV_1000 looks like intel is the manufacturer.

I have installed all the latest drivers from intel, realtek, etc for the motherboard.

    Hi

Did you install the Audio driver from a Realtek site and not the one listed on Gigabyte? if so remove the Audio driver you installed as alot of the time the OEM like Gigabyte has custom spec'd the Audio chip and the generic one from the likes of Realtek doesnt work properly.

Then when removed install the Audio driver from HERE (I know its from last year but best to go with makers tested driver)

    Halo,

Thank you for the help. I tried uninstalling all current realtek drivers (latest) and then reinstalling the official release from gigabyte's site. This still results in the hd audio device cannot start. my audio is working fine, I am unsure what the device that cannot start is really or why it is there.

    Hi LordM

Weird one as generally the HD Audio links to not having the UAA HD audio update from MSFT, however this has not been needed in Windows 7 as it should be part of the drivers.

I would just see how you go for now with the audio now working and if it breaks again then we could look for other clues or fixes, one drastic one is to uninstall that code 10 HD audio driver as it may have been installed in error on the original install of Windows.

    Halo thanks again.

I guess I am just a little OCD when it comes to my computer I like everything to be perfect. I tried reinstalling win 7 (clean install), and I went with the stock drivers from gigabyte but with the same results.

The audio seems to work fine, It just annoys me to have a yellow exclamation mark in my device manager XD

There was another issue I solved with some unknown device that gigabyte didn't provide drivers for. I figured out it was the Intel Management Engine Driver for Intel 5 Series Chipset-Based Desktop Boards

    Hi Lord M

I hear you on OCD, I'm the same with PCs.

Just reading up on this more and I think you are right on this being an Intel device, the ID code does link to Intels manufacrurers ID, but doesnt link to what it is, now re-reding the specs on your motherboard, I'm on a limb here but I think its the HDMI ports Audio driver, as you have listed in the spec the ALC886 from realtek and a HD Audio, normally its just one Audio chip.

Could check in BIOS and if you dont use HDMI from your PC, disable it if listed.

Still trying to look for a Win7 x64 Intel(R) High Definition Audio HDMI 6.10.1.2087 driver, no luck so far from safe sites I know and trust to link you too, but you may have some sucess also in searching as well.

I have an option in the bios to disable the realtek Azalea audio codec, which if I do both the realtek and the intel hd audio device disappear in device manager so I guess it is related to my audio somehow.

Perhaps this is due to the fact that the onboard intel graphics is disabled, I don't know much about hdmi.

I really wish I could use the onboard intel gpu for something I have a Radeon 5770, it would be cool if they could work in tandem.

    Thanks again.
